Commemoration of Haki Madini Kenya's 10 years of impactful work

Celebrating 10 years of existence and work is a significant achievement for the HMK coalition. The past 10 years have been memorable and characterised by an equal measure of substantial milestones, success, and challenges. Despite the achievements realised, the first ten years of the coalition were also dotted with some drawbacks ranging from COVID-19, inadequate resources for work and struggles around sustaining solid relationships with business actors and the government.

Amidst this, essential lessons have been learnt, which include the value of a community-centred approach and the power of the collective approach, particularly for a peculiar sector such as mining, which was budding when the coalition was established.

Currently, the coalition has rolled out the implementation of a new strategic plan for 2024-2028, which significantly builds on the milestones made in the previous plan. The year 2024 is, therefore, an official anniversary year. Consequently, “HMK at 10” will be an overriding theme and message in all aspects of the coalition’s interventions, activities, and communication to build and sustain a mood of celebration and momentum as the coalition enters the next chapter.

Notably, there was a culmination of the “HMK at 10” celebration where members, friends, partners, communities and other allies were invited to reflect on the future pathway of the coalition.

The video below shows how this went down.
